Lovers In A Dangerous Time

<note to self>

Pecan butter tart, May 2011we just had a buttertart festival a few days ago. the weather was perfect: sunny, but not too hot. for a few hours, tens of thousands of people packed the streets of downtown midland. traffic was diverted. however, this morning susan and i were talking about how bad buttertarts are for you. oh, they may be fun, they may be tasty (perhaps too tasty), but they’re very unhealthy. why not have a local strawberry fest? well, for one, local strawberries may not be ready, whereas you can have buttertarts any time. Strawberries for sale at Mahabaleshwaralso, keeping strawberries fresh all day can be challenging, and what do you do with any extras? make jam? but a buttertart festival doesn’t celebrate local food. it doesn’t promote local farmers. and strawberries are tastier, really.
