In the Eighties, Spirit Of The West had a Celtic tune whose chorus said that ‘we live on Indian land’, and in ‘Beds Are Burning‘ Midnight Oil suggested that we ‘give it back’.

Okay. The land, the sky, the water, you and I, have changed, even in twenty or thirty years. But it’s not ours. That sense of entitlement, that appropriation we can surrender. And we’ll be happier for it. We’ll gain far more than we’ll lose. So, let’s be generous, let’s be compassionate, let’s give it back. image by fred chartrand.
