jewish dietary laws

eatinganimalsstar-of-davidas a christian, jewish dietary laws (kosher food) never really interested me. i’ve read the bible from genesis to revelation; however, i skipped chunks, like the chunk about jewish dietary laws. but foer says he learned in hebrew school that ‘if we must eat animals, we should do so humanely, with respect for the other creatures and the world and with humility. don’t subject the animals you eat to unnecessary suffering, either in their lives or in their slaughter. it’s a way of thinking that made me proud to be jewish as a child, and that continues to make me proud.’ maybe i should read the parts i skipped =p.
