two park avenues

Park-Avenue-signdid you know there are two park avenues in new york city? actually, it’s the same street, but it’s divided; geographically by the river, or is it a moat? why-povertyfinancially, the richest of the rich live on one side, whereas the poorest in america live across the bridge. tonight we watched how in the last thirty years the topmost 1% of the 1% have fixed federal laws to serve themselves, in the doc, Park Avenue: Money, Power & the American Dream, part of TVO’s why poverty? series. the best line goes something like, ‘they may be rich, but they’re still pricks.’ money, politics, ideology. it’s like the game monopoly, which also has a park avenue, but unlike the game, this is unfair, and it’s real.
